OCR: An equalizing tube connects the carburator intake just inside the air filter to the float bowl, so that the pressure acting on the fuel is only caused by the venture section, and not by the additional small normal pressure drop across the air filter caused by the air flowing through it. (It should be noted that where a single cylinder engine is shown on the animated stacks, in fact in most modern engines, several cylinders are used, with the power strokes spaced out evenly over the engine revolution. This creates a nearly steady airflow through the carburator.)
